LOU REED:
Sally Can’t Dance
Backside • 1975

This is a portrait of Sally, who can’t dance, one from Lou Reed’s drag queen collection of SX-70 Polaroids. (The SX-70 was the ncecessary Art-Tool of the day.) It appears from the photographic evidence that Sally liked to be swathed in Saran Wrap whenever possible, sometimes quite tightly, and always, of course, in the buff. No wonder she can’t dance, she’s mummified! I wonder if Sally survived the 70s — not a lot of us eccentric folk did!

Watercolor, Prismacolor Colored Pencil, and acrylic paint on white board.
