THE AMERICAN
CINEMATEQUE at the
Pan-Pacific   1985

I created this poster with my partner, Jolino Beserra. He did the painting of the building in reverse on a blackline film positive. I rendered the sky on board and the film pos was mounted on top of this. The type, which is gloss varnish on matte silkscreen, reads “Temple of Dreams.” The Cinematheque was raising money to restore the Pan-Pacific into a multi-theatre complex with film restoration facilities, restaurants, and a giftstore. It was unfortunately destroyed by arson fire before the dream could be made manifest.
