TO DROP A DIME
1978

“To drop a dime” on someone is a Mob term that means “to rat on someone in your group in a way that implies that their imminent demise will occur.” The phone booth as a coffin image is obvious but strong. This an actual portrait of myself in a bespoke maroon gabardine suit. I am aware that the term may live on, but the days of they pay phone are obviously numbered. Once again, this was for Harris Lewine, AD at Warner Books.

Acrylic paint, and Prismacolor Colored Pencils on cold-press board.
