THE MARY
HARTMAN STORY
1978

Everyone I knew in NYC was addicted to “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman” in the late 70s. It truly seemed to capture the zeitgeist of that time. I portrayed Mary as an icon painting with her centrally portrayed as the patron saint of the homemaker surrounded by her acolytes. Her halo is 100% yellow waxy buildup.

Watercolor, Prismacolor Colored Pencils, Letrafilm & ink on white board.
